Overview of the Summit
SelectBIO MPS in the Pharmaceutical Industry: Opportunities, Successes & Barriers
Organized & Chaired by Professor Roger Kamm, Cecil and Ida Green Distinguished Professor of Biological and Mechanical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
This Summit held in tandem with the SelectBIO Lab-on-a-Chip and Microfluidics World Congress 2025 brings together the most up-to-date research efforts and technology developments in the Microphysiological Systems (MPS) space emphasizing the various organ-on-chip models that have been developed for studying both physiology and disease in in vitro model systems leveraging the tools and technologies of microfluidics.
Professor Kamm has assembled a collection of thought leaders from industry and academia to present the current state of the field and illustrate its applications across various functional areas. Topics will focus on the intersection of academia and the pharmaceutical industry and provide insights into the needs of pharma in disease modeling, drug development and toxicity screens that benefit from MPS technologies developed in university research and device comanies. It will also include a panel discussion on how to reach the full potential of MPS in the face of changing government priorities and the new FDA guidance.
This conference track -- in concert with the Lab-on-a-Chip and Microfluidics focus of this event -- describes an important and emerging application of microfluidics with strong emphasis by the pharmaceutical industry.
**Registered delegates receive full access to all conference tracks -- the full conference from November 17-19, 2025 for maximal scientific exchange and networking plus the co-located exhibit hall for networking with companies in this expanding space**
